November 30, 2012 Newsletter

 

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.

We went to the Apollo Theater to see Knuffle Bunny.  The kids loved it!

The holiday season is upon us.  We are learning different ways that people celebrate the holidays.  This week we are talking about Kwanzaa.  We made a headband with red, green and black shapes.  We also made a kinara.   The kids had art and music too.

The weather is turning colder.  Please remember to send hats, gloves and scarves for the children to wear during recess.

If your child is absent from school, please remember to send a note with your child upon their return.

Please check the folder and back pack every night and take out the completed work.  Please send the folder to school every day. 

We are getting low on our snack supply.  Please send in some healthy snacks.

Wednesday, December 5 is a Half Day of School.   Dismissal is at 12:15 p.m.  

November 21, 2012 Newsletter

 

We have been busy learning about Thanksgiving.  We talked about the foods we eat.  Then we cut out pictures from the sales papers from the grocery stores and glued them onto paper plates.   We also made Indian hats and turkeys.

We are going on a field trip on Wednesday, November 28 to see the play, Knuffle Bunny.   Please send in the permission slip and the money ($10.00) to school as soon as possible.

November 16, 2012 Newsletter

 

Due to this being a short week, this will be a short newsletter.

Thank you parents for coming in on Report Card Pick Up.  I enjoyed meeting you and talking with you about your children’s progress.

We are going on a field trip on Wednesday, November 28 to see the play, Knuffle Bunny.   Please send the permission slip and the money ($10.00) to school as soon as possible.

Looking ahead to next week… 

No school on Thursday, November 22nd and Friday, November 23rd.

We are having fun in Fall!

 

We celebrated Vivica’s birthday.  Happy 4th Birthday Vivica!

 

We are continuing to talk about the leaves and the season of Fall.   We read some books and learned a few fingerplays.  We also made trees with different colored leaves.   We went outside and collected leaves that we found around the school.   We will sort them and make a graph about them.

There is no school on Monday, November 12 for Veteran’s Day.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you and talking with you about your children.  So I hope to see you on Tuesday, November 13 for Report Card Pick Up.  (There is no school for students.)   A note came home with your scheduled conference time.

 

Halloween Fun!

 

 

This week we continued talking about Halloween.  We carved our class pumpkin, used different Halloween shapes and made a picture, and decorated the small pumpkins.   We are also talking about fall.  We made scarecrows.

We had fun at the Halloween party with the preschool and kindergarten classes.  We listened to the story,The Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.  There were also many different activities that we could participate in such as making a ghost, freeze dance, patterning using candy corn and pumpkin candy, putting together a spider that we could eat.

The weather is getting colder.    Please remember to send a warm coat, hat and gloves or mittens for your child to wear when we go outside for recess.

If your child’s amplification is not working, please write us a note and let us know.  There may be something we can do to help you.
